Thrillerfest Selects Wayne Johnson's Script for Its Top Spot
Bedlam on the Rails, a screenplay by Tradewinds author Wayne
E. Johnson took First Place and the best scene from the story was
filmed with professional actors performing the dialogue and narration. The screenplay was based on the book, Bedlam on the West Virginia Rails by Wilson Casey, a professional speaker and syndicated radio personality. Casey was interested
in the possibility of turning his book into a movie.
He and Johnson made a connection on LinkdIn and
began working together. Johnson produced the
initial draft in two weeks. After some polishing, both
he and Casey began shopping the script to potential
agents and producers. Johnson sent it to Thrillerfest
with positive results.

Johnson and Dick Tracy creator and Pulitzer Prize winner Dick Locher recently attended the book launch of author Jo Fredell Higgins' latest book, Naperville (Images of Modern America), at Anderson's Bookshop in Naperville, IL, on October 4, 2016. Dick was one of the prominent Naperville residents featured along with his Pulitzer Prize-
winning editorial cartoon and other artwork.
Wayne's sister's and brother-in-law's circus, the
Kelly-Miller, also merited two pages of photos and
descriptions of their visits to Naper Settlement.
Wayne is currently working with Dick to create an autobiographical book of Dick's art, sculptures, Dick
Tracy strips, and editorial cartoons.

Tradewinds author Wayne E. Johnson and author Jo Fredell Higgins attended the Catch a Bunch of Authors Fair at the Santori Library in Aurora, IL. At the September 10 event, in addition to some of her other books, Jo featured a preview copy of her forthcoming book, Naperville (Images of Modern America).
This year's event featured dozens of authors and a panel discussion, "Publishing—A Lesson Learned." The panelists were Adrienne Giordano, romantic suspense and mystery; P.E. Calhoun, nonfiction and fiction; Greg Stolze, Fantasy; and Anna Michels, editors of Sourcebooks and Sourcebooks Landmark. The moderator was author Amy Alessio.
